Drinking Water Specialist 

Full job description

**Job Overview: ** We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Water Specialist. The role involves working in the field to ensure the proper functioning of water treatment systems, conducting data collection, and performing equipment repairs.

This employee works under the direction of the Water Superintendent

 Job duties are not limited to those specified, but these are listed as examples of areas of responsibilities as currently assigned.

  • Must meet all physical requirements.
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be willing to obtain at least a DS I-II Drinking Water Distribution license within six (6) months.
  • Work days Monday through Friday as needed on Saturday and Sunday. This is a 40 hour a week job.
  • Read meters in a two-day period at the beginning of each month, the first and second, unless, the first falls on a Friday, weekend or holiday, unless extenuating circumstances arise.
  • Assist Water Superintendent with day-to-day activities as needed.
  • Check and start up the generator once a month
  • Update system maps and incorporate additions and changes to master maps at least annually.
  • Do an annual audit of all meters in the system for any problems that need addressed
  • Perform flushing of the system as required.  Maintenance records of flushing and account for amounts of water flushed in monthly water report.
  • Develop meter change out program, disconnect meters for non-payment.
  • Exercise each valve annually.  Measure locations and update master system maps as time allows.
  • Continue mapping with the Diamond Maps program.
  • Paint flush hydrants as directed.
  • Assist in finding leaks and fixing them
  • Assist in pressure testing and line flushing
  • Vehicle maintenance – Oil change when directed,

Monthly – light check, fluid checks, clean inside and out.  Other maintenance as needed.

  • Other duties as required or directed by your supervisor.
  • TIME SHEET – Must turn in hours each Friday or Monday to be approved by your supervisor for him to forward to the District Clerk, along with daily work log.
  • Pay day is monthly, the first day of each month. Unless the first day falls on a weekend or holiday.
  • Job evaluation to be done annually, before May 31.  After the first year of employment.  The first year is every two months.

Pay: Hourly

On call

Benefits – sick leave – one day per month after six months of continued employment, vacation – one week (5 days) after one full year of employment or as employee manual dictates.  All leave must be used within one year of acquiring it.
